The relationship between sociocognitive skills and the emergence of language and communication abilities in infants & toddlers is strong and warrants focused examination in a developmental evaluation. Predictive associations with later diagnoses of autism and language delays in childhood will be covered and will include multicultural challenges to assessment accuracy.
