Twenty-one preschool teachers' use of self-determination (SD) teaching practices was observed and quantified during two classroom activities, using a direct behavior coding system. Teachers' use of SD practices varied across teachers, SD skill categories, and activity types. Teachers' use of SD practices showed positive correlations with their CLASS-PreK scores.
