About me
Kelly Brown is a doctoral candidate at the University of Massachusetts Boston, an adjunct faculty member at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a member of DEC's Family Committee. She received her bachelor’s degree in Human Development with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College in 2006 and her master’s degree in Special Education from Lesley University in 2009. Kelly has been active in the field of early childhood special education/early intervention since 2007 and received her certification as an Early Intervention Specialist in 2011. Her research has focused on the collaborative efforts of systems that support children who have experienced maltreatment and elevating the voices of families in research. As an adoptive parent Kelly is especially passionate about the educational and social-emotional needs of young children in the foster care system.
