About me
Adrienne Quarles-Smith, Ed.D. is a Program Specialist with the Virginia Department of Education’s Training & Technical Assistance Center at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has over 25 years of experience in the field of early childhood special education in a variety of capacities. Adrienne’s life and work experiences are reflective of her core beliefs and values of extending grace, independence, perseverance, respect for hard work, and advocacy. Thus, leading her to committing herself to educating children and their families within Richmond, Virginia and the tri-cities communities. Her first 10 years of teaching was in the heart of Richmond’s public housing community, serving, supporting, and empowering families of young children with disabilities. Currently, she supports school divisions in superintendent’s regions one and eight to address the needs of Virginia’s youngest citizens in the area of inclusive practices within early childhood settings. Within her scope of practice, she lends a voice to conversations regarding equitable access and treatment of young children, their families, and the community at large.
