Prince Estanislao

My name is Prince Estanislao (he/they). I am a third-year student in the Joint Doctoral Program in special education at UC Berkeley and San Francisco State University (SFSU). I am a course Instructor at SFSU and a Graduate Student Researcher for the Universal Transitional Kindergarten project and the Berkeley Center for the Science opf Psychedelics (BCSP) at UC Berkeley. Before my doctorate studies, I received my MA in Early Childhood Special Education (SFSU), a Graduate Certification in Autism, and 12 years of Early Childhood Education and special education teacher experience in Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and the United States. My research focuses on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and childhood trauma of refugee immigrants. My minoritized intersectional identity has shaped my resolve to support refugee families with disabled children and, pointedly, learn from them in the process. My challenges as a queer immigrant of color reflect some of the struggles of the underserved families and refugee families I research and support. Through research and engaged practice, I seek to encourage practitioners to reorganize their perspectives on disability through the lens of trauma-informed educational practice.
