This session will provide an introduction for attendees to understand WHAT state-level policy and systems change is all about and some of the hot topics states are tackling; WHO can help you make the changes you want to see; WHEN the windows of opportunity for policy change happens in states; and HOW you can influence and strengthen early childhood policies.

This session will also include a panel of state-level advocates discussing ways to get started in advocacy, how to engage families and providers in advocacy work, and other ways they have brought the 5 Ws to life.

Can Family Confidence Help with the Effects of Caregiver Burden on FQoL?

We analyzed the effects of caregiver burden and family confidence on FQoL in 58 Spanish families in early intervention. Hierarchical regression and mediation analyses were used. FqoL ratings were influenced by income, burden and confidence. More confident mopthers showed higher FQoL. Family confidence helped lessen the impact of burden on FQoL.

Over 50% of children in early childhood settings have experienced trauma. Meanwhile, early educators support and nurture this population under their own emotional, physical and financial stressors. This session helps practitioners to build positive supports, proactively nurturing “Compassion Satisfaction” rather than surviving “Compassion Fatigue.”
