Exploring Playmate Preferences in Early Childhood Classrooms

We discuss recent research exploring how children’s playmate preferences change after participating in an adapted version of a peer mediated intervention. We review methods for collecting and analyzing social network data of children’s playmate preferences and how practitioners and researchers can use these data in their efforts to promote children's social connectedness.

Examining Equity in the Early Intervention Pipeline: A Scoping Review

IDEA (2004) mandates that eligible infants and toddlers with disabilities receive high-quality and non-discriminatory EI services. Yet, the factors that influence children’s and families’ equitable access to the varied steps in the EI pipeline, from referral to transition, are not well known. This presentation shares the results of a scoping review examining such factors.

Can Family Confidence Help with the Effects of Caregiver Burden on FQoL?

We analyzed the effects of caregiver burden and family confidence on FQoL in 58 Spanish families in early intervention. Hierarchical regression and mediation analyses were used. FqoL ratings were influenced by income, burden and confidence. More confident mopthers showed higher FQoL. Family confidence helped lessen the impact of burden on FQoL.
