The relationship between educators and parents is vital to the education of all students, particularly those who are neurodiverse. Studies show parents of those with learning differences have the least amount of parental involvement and the worst relationships. This session will teach the “know, like, and trust” factors necessary to create meaningful relationships.

This presentation will focus on the methods, results, and future implications resulting from a mixed methods study on the adaptation and evaluation of the FBSApp for Spanish-speaking families of young children with challenging behaviors. Attendees will leave with practical methods for adapting and expanding their research and practice for diverse families.

The Lead IDEA Center is a new national technical assistance center funded by the Office of Special Education Programs. The Center provides resources and technical assistance to strengthen Early Intervention and PreK-12 school leaders’ knowledge and skills to effectively implement the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and improve systems serving children with disabilities and their families. Join the Lead IDEA Center staff in this interactive session to hear about the Center, discuss needs in the field, and provide input on the types of resources and support EI and EC leaders need most.
