Coping Skills Instruction and Proactive Responding for Tier 3 Behaviors - Poster 12

This study investigated a coaching and training package focused on supporting early elementary teachers to provide inclusive Tier 3 behavioral supports as opposed to exclusionary alternatives. With reflective coaching, we focused on teachers' integration of coping skills instruction, their proactive responding to precursor behaviors, and the teacher-child relationship.

Chinese immigrant families of children with autism are an underserved and under-researched population. This poster session provides an insight into the advocacy of 13 parents through a narrative inquiry. The parents greatly valued the professionals’ dedication and supportive partnerships. Only a few parents displayed advocacy in relation to their children’s education.
