This workshop will provide an in-depth look into the 2020
Initial Practice-Based Professional Preparation Standards for Early Interventionists/Early Childhood Special Educators(EI/ECSE Standards birth through grade 3) with a focus on use of the Standards for different purposes (i.e., preservice preparation, professional development, policy, research). That discussion will address how diversity, equity, and inclusion are integrated throughout the EI/ECSE Standards, as well as how the OSEP funded Early Childhood Intervention Personnel Center for Equity is supporting institutions of higher education and state systems to align with an equity framework. The relationship of the EI/ECSE Standards to the DEC Recommended Practices (RPs), and CEC High Leverage Practices (HLPs) will be discussed with examples of how they are currently being used together. DEC and ECPC resources designed to support the use of the Standards, RPs, and HLPs will be shared. Participants will engage in several small group activities throughout the workshop.
